In my graduation project, Arctic Symphony, photography became a way into the research itself: time, decay and production. Borders and Transitions is the selection of those images that was exhibited.
The images range from intimate close-ups to wider frames. The close-ups look at elemental things meeting each other, sand and water mixing at the river's edge. The wider frames take in structures and landscapes that have given way to time, sometimes gently and sometimes not.
The collection worked as a source for the design and as a reminder of how steadily time changes things. My father Håvard assisted with some of the photographs on the two expeditions we made to Alta.
Some of these images were later selected for an exhibition at TU Delft: BK Expo, Sight, Sites, Situations: Photography as an Instrument for Design.
