Together with Denis, Miguel and Sofia, I developed a masterplan and architectural proposal for the new Sesc park–unit of Mogi das Cruzes, sited between an avenue to the south and the Serra do Itapeti to the north. Our design exploits the valley’s topography, deploying a continuous esplanade that connects the access road at +762.96 m down to the park level at +750 m, carving out a sheltered outdoor foyer that buffers highway noise.
A 200 m–long curved pavilion along the eastern edge frames views toward the Serra, serving as a monumental backdrop to the park. Its gentle arc both envelops the green courtyard and frees a service yard to the east, where loading docks and technical towers are discreetly located. Within the pavilion, program is zoned into sociocultural functions - auditorium with independent foyer café, multipurpose rooms, library and children’s play - and sports amenities, including indoor courts, pools and fitness spaces.
We specified a lightweight timber structure with off-the-shelf thermally insulated panels for the façade, and integrated openings for daylight and natural ventilation. The service towers are designed to accommodate future solar-thermal and photovoltaic systems.
My role focused on concept development, site strategy and digital modeling - iterating the esplanade geometry and pavilion curvature to ensure a seamless dialogue between built form and landscape. Participating in this competition honed our collaborative design workflow and deepened our understanding of architecture’s role as a mediator between nature and urban infrastructure.

SESC-nettverket (Serviço Social do Comércio) har en lang tradisjon for å bestille arkitektonisk ambisiøse offentlige bygninger — mest berømt Lina Bo Bardis SESC Pompéia — og dette forslaget fortsetter i den ånd.
Designet foreslår en bygning som simultant er sivil infrastruktur og landskap. En serie med terrasse-plattformer stiger ned mot en offentlig park og huser et teater, verksteder, et bibliotek, idrettsanlegg og et offentlig svømmebasseng. Plattformene er beplantet med hjemlige atlantiske skogsarter, slik at bygningen gradvis innlemmes av landskapet over tid.
Prosjektet gjenspeiler min interesse for arkitektur som tjener som fellesgrunn — rom som tilhører alle, strukturert av topografi snarere enn vegger, og som eldes inn i omgivelsene med tiltagende verdighet.
SESC Mogi das Cruzes é uma proposta para concurso de um novo centro cultural e de lazer no município de Mogi das Cruzes, a leste de São Paulo. A rede SESC (Serviço Social do Comércio) tem uma longa tradição de encomendar edifícios públicos arquitetonicamente ambiciosos — mais famosamente o SESC Pompéia de Lina Bo Bardi — e esta proposta continua nesse espírito.
O design propõe um edifício que é simultaneamente infraestrutura cívica e paisagem. Uma série de plataformas em socalcos desce em direção a um parque público, abrigando um teatro, ateliês, uma biblioteca, instalações esportivas e uma piscina pública. As plataformas são plantadas com espécies nativas da Mata Atlântica, para que o edifício seja gradualmente assimilado pela paisagem ao longo do tempo.
O projeto reflete meu interesse em arquitetura que serve como espaço comum — lugares que pertencem a todos, estruturados pela topografia em vez de paredes, e que envelhecem em seu entorno com crescente graça.
